Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Hartley, Alfred & Smit J. (illustrator). 1st Edition. Green cloth covers with gold lettering on spine and front cover and gold borders on the front cover. All are faded. Covers exhibit light wear, fraying and bumping on corners and spine ends. Light soiling to spine. Light wear and soiling on edges and hinges. Inside hinges are cracked but still attached. Moderate yellowing and soiling on the page ends. Moderate yellowing to the inside front and back covers, ffep's, bfep's and text due to age. Text is otherwise clean and unmarked. The many full page b&w illustrations are all present and in very good condition. This book is a highly acclaimed travelogue detailing the naturalists year long visit to the region where he studied its wildlife. He tells of the local flora and fauna and the indigenous people of the area. All books are individually examined and described. Never ex-lib unless stated.
