Simona Salvo è architetto, dottore di ricerca, specialista e professore associato di restauro architettonico presso Sapienza Università di Roma. Coltiva uno specifico interesse per le questioni di teoria e tecnica del restauro, in specie dell'architettura contemporanea, e per le dinamiche con cui si propaga la cultura della conservazione, con particolare attenzione alla traiettoria della cultura italiana del restauro. Ha coordinato progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali, tra cui il restauro del grattacielo Pirelli di Milano (2002-2004) e la conservazione programmata della Scuola di Matematica nella città universitaria di Roma (2019-2022), entrambi opere di Gio Ponti. Su questi temi ha pubblicato libri, saggi e articoli su riviste scientifiche, nazionali e internazionali. Alberto Coppo è architetto e PhD in Storia dell'Architettura (Sapienza Università di Roma) e lavora presso l'Accademia Nazionale di San Luca a Roma. Nel 2019-2021 ha partecipato al progetto "Keeping it Modern" finanziato dalla Fondazione Getty per lo studio della Scuola di Matematica di Gio Ponti a Roma, coordinato da Simona Salvo. Nel 2021 è tra i revisori del Censimento Nazionale Architetture del Secondo Novecento. Nel 2022 ha partecipato al progetto di ricerca dell'Università degli Studi Roma Tre denominato "Carta della Cultura Industriale".…

Within this framework of initiatives, we dedicate this book to the comparison among research projects carried out in Italy and Brazil, starting from the distinctive characteristics that modern architecture has gained in the two countries and evaluating the impact that the Conservation Management Plans on the cultural scenario of each country and on the corresponding protection systems. We asked the co-authors to reconsider the research experience faced within the KIM program, overcoming their description, and proposed to describe its specific reflection on the role that management plans play for twentieth-century architecture and on how the outcomes of this experience have contributed to the debate on the protection of contemporary architecture.
