Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Written to meet the urgent needs of military linguists participating in Operation Desert Shield --- in a very short period due to time constraints". Original black illustrated yellow wraps 13x17cm. (6), 328pp. Wraps very good, marked to the front, interiors near fine. This was also prepared for students taking the Defense Language Institute's Iraqi Dialect Course (the first edition of which appeared in 1985 to support US military personnel in their work with Iraqis during the Iran-Iraq War). It contains a general vocabulary without military terminology, in transliteration and Arabic script. Worldcat locates 3 copies only, one of which at DLIFLC, the others at the National Security Agency and University of Illinois (OCLC 48009236).

The dictionary was produced "in a very short period due to time constraints" after the initiation of Operation Desert Shield and was intended to assist military linguists entering Iraq during that operation.
