Da zudem Laser und ihre Anwendungen in der Techn…ik immer bedeutsamer werden, gibt es Laser-Vorlesungen auch fuer Ingenieur-Studenten. Unter diesem Gesichtspunkt kamen wir zum Schluss, unseren immer zah 1 rei cheren Studenten anste 11 e unserer ei genen ver- vielfaeltigten Vorlesungsnotizen ein Laser-Buch zu empfehlen. Wir fan- den jedoch, wer hat anderes erwartet, dass die vorliegenden, meist Wuenschen nicht voll aelteren deutschsprachigen Laser-Lehrbuecher unseren entsprechen. Nachdem von verschiedener Seite Interesse bekundet wurde, unsere Vorlesungsnotizen nach Ueberarbeitung als Buch zu veroeffentli- chen, haben wir uns nach verstaendlichem Zoegern darauf eingelassen. Massgebend dafuer war auch die Bereitschaft von Robert Kesselring. dipl. Phys. EIH mitzuwirken und uns mit Rat, Tat und Kritik beizustehen. Auch letzte- res war uns wichtig, da er die Vor- und Nachteile unseres Unterrichts als Assistent und ehemaliger Hoerer kennt. Ihm sind wir zu grossem Dank verpflichtet, ebenso unseren vielen Fachkollegen in Ost und West, wel- che uns seit ueber zwei Jahrzehnten bei jedem Treffen in die Geheimnis- se der Laser einweihen. Ein Resultat ist dieses Buch. Wir hoffen, die Fachkollegen, vor allem aber auch die Studenten, heissen es willkom- men.
