Rare English translated copy of the 1800 reprint of de Saint Pierre's journey to the island of what is now known as Mauritius. This edition is not recorded by Mendelssohn, but is noticed by Theal. Jacques-Henri Bernardin de Saint Pierre 1737-1814, after spending four years in Russia as an engineer, obtained a commission as engineer for the Isle of France. He remained there for three years, and then returned to Paris to devote himself to literature.
