La poudre séchée de Tridax procumbens (feuilles, tiges, racines et fleurs) contenant le constituant chimique procumbent a été extraite et l'activité a été étudiée. Différentes concentrations (5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml et 15 mg/ml) d'éthanol ont été évaluées pour étudier l'activité contre Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans. L'activité antibactérienne a été mesurée par la méthode de diffusion en puits d'agar et l'activité antifongique par la méthode de diffusion en disque. Tridax procumbens (15 mg/ml) a montré une zone d'inhibition maximale contre les bactéries Gram positives Staphylococcus aureus (18mm) et minimale contre les bactéries Gram négatives Escherichia coli (8mm). Tridax procumbens (15mg/ml) a montré une activité antifongique maximale contre Aspergillus flavus (12mm) et Candida albicans (4mm). Objective of present study was to enhance solubility of andrographolide through solid dispersion technique and conversion it into tablet dosage form. Solubility of extract was found to be more from solid dispersion prepared by using Soluplus than that of prepared using PEG 6000. Compatibility study using IR, DSC and XRD showed that, ethanolic extract is compatible with soluplus and can be used for preparation of stable formulation. Pharmacokinetic study showed that, there was a significant increase in absorption of andrographolide from solid dispersion tablet. andrographolide. The relative bioavailability of andrographolide from solid dispersion tablet to that of pure andrographolide was found to be 177.59±14.6%. From tissue distribution study it can be concluded that, concentration of andrographolide in all tissues get increased in animals in which solid dispersion tablet was administered orally. It reveals that absorption of andrographolide is getting increased after conversion of extract into solid dispersion tablet. The dried powder of Tridax procumbens (leaves, stems, roots and flowers) containing chemical constituent procumbent was extracted and the activity was studied. Various concentration (5 mg/ml, 10 mg/ml and 15 mg/ml) of ethanol were evaluated to study the activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Aspergillus flavus, Candida albicans. The antibacterial activity was measured by agar well diffusion method and antifungal activity by disc diffusion method. Tridax procumbens (15 mg/ml) showed maximum zone of inhibition was against Gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus (18mm) and minimum against Gram negative bacteria Escherichia coli (8mm).
