In acrylic casings, he layers painted, translucent image carriers and found objects above or behind one another, which, when combined, make puzzling portraits or landscapes appear and whose meaning content shifts according to the intensity of the illumination. Fürhofer's large stage sets for international opera productions seduce in quite comparable ways - here too he creates kaleidoscopic dream visions of painting, mirrors and light.
