L.J.G.Rul, 1811-1880, martiniquais de naissance vivant à Paris, nous avons pu le localiser au 23 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Denis, .est un célèbre écuyer et professeur d'équitation, élève de François Baucher, auteur de plusieurs livres défendant le bauchérisme (la grande controverse de l'équitation du XIXe siècle) et d'autres textes critiquant la médecine, instructeur de cavalerie en Belgique, Angleterre, Allemagne, Autriche etc. Sa figure est très mystérieuse. Nous n'avons que peu de renseignements sur sa famille aux Antilles. Il apparaît en ombre chinoise dans une enquête menée pour le compte du Ministère Public sur les milieux occultistes parisiens par Georges Gilles de la Tourette, ou dans une réunion visant à faire rencontrer adeptes de Claude Saint-Martin, magnétiseurs et occultistes, organisée par Don Brennus Alera, le marquis de A. de Oliveira, le Docteur Krystof Bierr et Abel Belgozonraki dans une villa du Golfe de Tigullio près de Portofino en 1887. Remarquons qu'il est mentionné dans les procès-verbaux alors qu'il était censé être mort depuis sept ans. Lorsque la villa della Russina fut brûlée par les partisans pour avoir été louée comme demeure de vacances par Eva Braun, la quasi totalité des archives disparaîtront, il ne nous reste que les notes prises lors de son séjour sur la côte ligure par Mario Praz, alors qu'il écrivait son grand livre sur le décadentisme.
