Er mac…hte sich später eher als Jäger und wissenschaftlich Reisender einen Namen denn als bedeutender Architekt. Private Forschungsreisen führten ihn nach Ostgrönland sowie in einer von ihm geleiteten Expedition nach Zentral- und Ostafrika (Oktober 1911-April 1912). Dabei bestieg er mit Robert Stigler (1878¿1975) zwei Gipfel des Mount Elgon, den Wagagai und den Koitobos, den sie Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Spitze nannten.Im hier vorliegenden Band berichtet Rudolf Kmunke über die Ergebnisse sowie die Abenteuer seiner wissenschaftlichen Expedition nach Britisch Ostafrika-Uganda, die er von Oktober 1911 bis April 1912 nach monatelangen Vorbereitungen und mit Unterstützung des britischen Kolonialministeriums in Begleitung des Physiologen Robert Stigler unternahm. Die auf dieser Reise erworbenen reichhaltigen botanischen, zoologischen und ethnologischen Sammlungen und kartographischen Aufnahmen waren für die Wiener und Budapester Museen und Universitäten bestimmt.
