El teatro ya no tiene fronteras lingüísticas y se puede asistir a un gran número de espectáculos en versión original, subtitulados o traducidos, lo que posibilita la difusión de la creación dramática entre las diversas áreas lingüísticas. Estas páginas destacan también el papel educativo y pedagógico del teatro y su contribución a la integración social y al conocimiento cultural. La dramaturgia contemporánea, y, en general, las artes escénicas, representan un grito de rebelión pacífica en una sociedad cada vez más marcada por la violencia de los extremos que precisa ser denunciada y combatida. El nuevo teatro transmite un mensaje político, propone una visión crítica de la sociedad e invita al público a la reflexión y a la participación activa dentro del espectáculo. Béatrice Bottin es profesora en la Universidad de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour (Francia) y traductora jurada francés-español. Especialista en la cultura, la sociedad y el teatro de los siglos XX y XXI, ha publicado numerosos trabajos sobre dramaturgia, espacios de creación y representación y artes plásticas. Colabora en equipos de investigación internacionales sobre escena, historia y literatura contemporánea.
