Bamboo is an integral natural resource in Nepal, supporting rural livelihoods, local economies, and ecological resilience across diverse landscapes. Although Nepal harbors 53 bamboo species? including 7 endemics?national-level, statistically robust information on bamboo resources outside forest areas has long been lacking. To fill this gap, the Forest Research and Training Centre implemented Nepal's first Bamboo Resource Assessment Outside Forest Areas, generating comprehensive field, spatial, and analytical estimates of bamboo distribution, species composition, and biomass.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Fagus sylvatica is one of the most important tree species in Europe. Due to its extensive distributionand dominance in its range, the performance of European forests in the contexts of perceived climate change will largely depend on the reaction of beech forests. Adequate information about the genetic diversity and structure of the species is indispensable for the conservation and sustainable utilization of the forests. Forest management systems currently in use in Germany are considered sustainable. However, their impact on the genetic diversity and spatial genetic structure of F. sylvatica is largely unknown. In these contexts, the main objectives of this dissertation were a) to assess the genetic diversity and differentiation of F. sylvatica at different spatial scales, b) to determine the level and magnitude of fine-scale genetic structure of the beech stands, c) to investigate the effect of forest management activities on the genetic diversity and fine-scale genetic structure of the beech stands independent of the marker used and d) to compare microsatellite and AFLP markers to estimate genetic diversity and structure of the stands, and their applicability to detect management impacts on genetic structure of the stand. 140 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. This item is printed on demand - it takes 3-4 days longer - Neuware -Tilia species are considered as European noble tree species. They are generally grown in association with other species but they never constitute pure stands in larger areas. They are important from the ecological, cultural and environmental perspectives. Tilia and their hybrids are among the most favourite avenue tree species in Europe. This study concentrates only on T. cordata, T. platyphyllos and their hybrid (T.x europaea). All three Tilia spp. seem similar in general outlook, however they are different in many morphological traits.Precise identification of the species is very difficult and misleading on the basis of morphological characteristics alone. Morphological traits are continuous, overlapping and highly influenced by locality factors whereas genetic traits are discriminating, non-overlapping and not effected by environment. This book provides detail descriptions about precise methods of species identification particularly in Tilia spp. however the concepts and methodology described might be useful for other plant species as well. Therefore, this book is expected to benefit the professionals involved in wider field of Forest Genetics and Systematic Botany. 108 pp. Englisch.
