La crisi della grande impresa e l'esplosione del decentramento produttivo sono stati in Italia tra i fenomeni più dibattuti. L'Italia si è nettamente differenziata dagli altri paesi in…dustrializzati: la strategia del decentramento produttivo, seguita dalle imprese italiane, è una possibile alternativa a quella del decentramento inter nazionale. Essa è però una strategia puramente difensiva, che isolata da altri tipi di intervento rischia nel lungo periodo di accentuare l'emarginazione dell'economia italiana da quella del paesi più industrializzati. Un'analisi sul campo, riferita a un settore e a un'area determinati (l'elettronica di consumo in Campania), permette di sostanziare queste ipotesi e pone in evidenza le diverse specificità del processo di decentramento produttivo, sia riguardo a vari comparti dell'industria elettronica, sia riguardo a zone caratterizzate da differenti livelli di sviluppo economico. Alfredo Del Monte, nato a Roma nel 1943, insegna Economia politica Facoltà di Economia e commercio di Napoli. Tra i suoi lavori Politica regionale e sviluppo economico (Milano, 1977) e, in collaborazione con Giannola. Il Mezzogiorno nell'economia italiana (Bologna, 1978). Mario Raffa è professore di Economia generate nella Facoltà di ingegneria di Napoli; presso la stessa cattedra lavorano Giuseppe Zollo e Claudio Ciambelli, Torino.
