It is a fairly deep work, with numerous references to Hindu scripture and some mino…r forays into Islam and Buddhism.The symbolism is, in Hinduism, fairly explicit- the lingam and yoni are worshiped openly and, in a more literal sense by some sub-schools of Hindu thought. In its era of manufacture this book was utterly taboo, hence its privately printed status, and would have shocked the audience with lurid depictions of 'degenerated' worship, by Western standards at the time.

(Halter T-548) From a limited edition of 150 copies, not individually numbered. (Horowitz, 47). Provenance: From the private collection of Frederick B. Adams, bibliographer of President Roosevelt and director of the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. His collection was sold by Sotheby's in 2001. This printing of the 1933 Inaugural Address followed a presentation edition of 10 copies, bound in full calfskin, for the persaonal use of FDR (Halter T-546) and a second publication of 30 copies from The Harbor Press (Halter T-548). No copies of the full calfskin edition have appeared on the market since publication. Upon receipt of the books, President Roosevelt wrote to The Harbor Press noting: "This volume reflects high credit upon the producers. The quality of this publication, both from the standpoint of binding and typography, is outstanding. I shall treasure it." From Halter: The Harbor Press edition of FDR's First Inaugural was taken from a stenographic transcript and thus incorporated the many last-minute changes Roosevelt made to his text. It "is therefore the first appearance in book form of the First Inaugural as listeners actually heard it delivered". A limited edition printing of The Inaugural Address of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, limited to 150 copies, printed by The Harbor Press for private distribution. (illustrator).

Octavo, 30pp. Green paper covers, stapled at spine and tied with cord. Solid text block, paper clip marks to last page and rear cover, faint toning to front cover, a very good example.… With laid-in sheet indicating this pamphlet is a response to A.C. Buell's biography of John Paul Jones. Tipped in errata slip on page 27. Some of the material in this pamphlet originally appeared in The New York Times in 1906, with Mrs. De Koven adding additional information several years later. Anna de Koven (1862-1953), novelist, historian, and socialite, married composer Reginald de Koven in 1884 and published her works under his name. This pamphlet was written in response to the blatant fabrications A.C. Buell wrote in his biography of American Revolutionary War naval captain John Paul Jones. Buell often lied in his writing, and was arrested for an accusation of libel in 1876. Other writers grew in popularity for debunking Buell's writing, including Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison, who won a Pulitzer Prize for John Paul Jones: A Sailor's Biography.
