The preface has a biography of Goldsmith and a history of this title. The top end of the text block is gilt. The top and bottom edges of the spine strip are frayed; the boards' corners are a little so. The free endpapers are tipped in with glue after being split from the pastedowns. One endpaper's front edge has small chips and closed tears. About a fifth of the pages have stain(s), mostly small and from foxing. Two pages are half covered with foxing.
