Splendido volume celebrativo della grande opera realizzata nel corso della prima metà degli anni trenta e inaugurata dal Re il 29 ottobre 1935: l'«autocamionale» collegava Genova a Serravalle Scrivia in Piemonte con un percorso acrobatico che si snodava lungo il tratto appenninico attraverso numerosi ponti e gallerie. Per l'epoca, si trattava di una realizzazione all'avanguardia, forse la prima autostrada "montana" della storia. Il percorso è stato in seguito sviluppato e inglobato nell'attuale «Autostrada dei Giovi» o A7. -- Il presente volume pubblica con apparato iconografico aumentato e il decisivo contributo di design di Attilio Calzavara il saggio che il progettista dell'opera, ingegnere Gaetano Pini, aveva approntato per gli «Annali dei lavori pubblici», la rivista ufficiale del ministero, fascicolo 10 dell'ottobre 1935. Il libro viene a volte datato «1936» poiché al frontespizio reca la data dell'«era fascista», dunque «29 ottobre XIV» che è precisamente l'anno che trascorre dal 28 ottobre ancora del 1935 al 28 ottobre finalmente del 1936.
