Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Exiled and cast into solitude, Francisco de Jesus Maria y Jose Palau y Quer, a Carmelite friar of profound spirituality and dedication, found refuge in a cave, embracing solitude amidst the tumultuous 19th century Spain. This period of enforced isolation became the crucible for his spiritual growth, where Palau y Quer delved deep into contemplative life, wrestling with the divine and understanding his unique calling within the Church. His life, a testament to faith and resilience, exemplifies how adversity and solitude can lead to profound spiritual insights and growth. Palau y Quer's role in the Church, through his foundational work in religious congregations and his profound writings, highlighted his unique approach to faith, characterized by a deep and personal engagement with the divine through the solitary life."The Life of Solitude" stands as a monumental work that captures Palau y Quer's solitary journey, offering readers a glimpse into the soul of a man who chose the path less traveled by embracing solitude. This work intricately weaves autobiographical elements with rich spiritual reflections, making a compelling case for the solitary life as not merely an escape but a vibrant, purposeful choice for deeper communion with God and service to the Church. Through his solitary reflections, Palau y Quer invites us into a contemplative space where solitude serves as a conduit for profound spiritual warfare and intercession, advocating for a life that, while isolated, is deeply connected to the communal and universal mission of the Church. This edition of "The Life of Solitude" is enriched with 15 illustrations that capture the essence of Palau y Quer's spiritual journey, rendered in various artistic forms to complement the text's depth. Meticulously translated by Joaquin de la Sierra, a seasoned translator known for his work on "The Spiritual Exercises" by Ignatius of Loyola and "Confessions" by St. Augustine, this book offers readers a window into the soul of one of the Church's most solitary figures.
