Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a novel philosophical theory that seeks to explain a host of phenomena in nature, using as its foundational principle that movement in the universe is indestructible. Starting with the premise that God gifted all matter with a certain quantity of motion, the author posits that this movement, though seemingly lost through actions and reactions, is in fact perpetually regenerated. Using this idea as the backbone of their theory, the author then goes on to posit that the movement of the celestial bodies, from the orbit of planets to the trajectory of comets, can be explained by a rhythmic oscillation of a theoretical ether throughout the universe. This oscillatory movement acts as an invisible force that propels all matter towards one another and provides the impetus for the cyclical motion of the stars and planets. The author also suggests that this ether is responsible for other natural occurrences, from the ebb and flow of the tides to the attraction between magnets and the phenomenon of light. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
