Guter Zustand. - Das Kloster Schussenried ist eine ehemalige Reichsabtei in Bad Schussenried (Oberschwaben). Das Chorherrenstift der Prämonstratenser bestand von 1183 bis 1803. Heute wird das Konventsgebäude unter dem Namen Neues Kloster Schussenried als Veranstaltungs- und Ausstellungszentrum genutzt, die ehemalige Klosterkirche St. Magnus dient als katholische Pfarrkirche. . Die Kirche besitzt ein hochbarockes überreich ausgeschmücktes Chorgestühl aus Nussbaumholz, das von Georg Anton Machein (1685 - 1739) und seiner Werkstatt in den Jahren 1715 - 1717 geschaffen wurde und wie das Buxheimer Chorgestühl zur figürlich ausgestatteten Gruppe der schwäbischen Akanthus-Chorgestühle gehört. In den Dorsalfeldern befinden sich Reliefs aus Lindenholz, deren thematischer Schwerpunkt auf dem Marienleben und der Passion Christi liegt. Flankiert werden sie von Statuetten vierundzwanzig männlicher und vier weiblicher Ordensgründer. Im Jahre 1930 wurde das Chorgestühl im Rahmen einer Renovierung zerlegt und 1932 näher am Hochaltar aufgestellt. Dabei wurde die Nordseite mit der Südseite vertauscht, so dass jetzt die chronologische Reihenfolge bei den Reliefszenen nicht mehr im Westen sondern im Osten beginnt.
