Hardcover, original tan, black and gold stamped pictorial cloth (winged figure holding a torch with floral motif) , foliate endpapers, 228 pp, illustrated with in text decorative drawings. Fair to good, no dustjacket. Rubbed along edges, corners bumped with a bit o…f cardboard exposed there, approximately 1/4 inch deep fraying at head and foot of spine, cloth soiled, pinhead sized white paint specks on front board. Internally, front and rear hinges cracked with gauze exposed, additional hinge cracks between several of the gatherings, paper tanned, otherwise tight, clean, relatively crisp and unmarked. Horatio Alger type story of boy's adventures amidst the tenements of New York City. Children's; Victorian; rags to riches.
