Paperback. Condition: Very Good. What kind of church will offer access to the Gospel for the next generation? That is the persistent question running through this book. As a minister of the Church of Scotland, the author is committed to a vision of the grace of God for all in our nation, but challenges the assumed strategy for fulfilling that vision as being only through territorial parish ministry. Our fundamental shift is from exclusive territorial mission to cultural and generational mission. A parish church does not mean a parish is churched. We need a mixed economy of neighbourhood and network churches to engage with our nation across the generations. Will we move the resources to match the missionary challenge? Peter Neilson has been a minister of the Church of Scotland for over 30 years, in the parish of Mount Florida, Glasgow and later as Associate Minister in the Parish Church of St Cuthbert, Edinburgh. He has also encouraged the evangelistic mission of the church as an Adviser in Mission and Evangelism, Director of Training at St Ninian's Centre, Crieff, and currently in the role of supporting New Charge Developments within Scotland. He convened the special commission which produced the 'Church without Walls' report in 2001. He is married to Dorothy with two married daughters, one about-to-be-married daughter and a delightful 2 year old granddaughter. "The Chalmers Lectures" which form the basis of this book were graciously hosted in 2004 by St Mary's College, St Andrews, and New College, Edinburgh. They have also been delivered in the International Christian College, Glasgow in 2005. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Followers of the Way invite others to join them on the Way. That is the simple message of this book. The point is this: God uses ordinary people as 'angels' - messengers of good news. This book is written to make any Christian say, 'I could do that!' We pray that God will set people free from misconceptions and inhibitions about sharing their faith and liberate an army of ordinary people into giving away what they know about God. It will be Good News to somebody. By the way, being an angel is not the same as being angelic! Peter and David have written a marvellously encouraging, reassuring and above all honest account of Christian witnessing today. It's honest, and so it's full of hope. Because these guys understand that when it comes to evangelism, Christians have nothing to fear but fear itself. Be an angel, and read it! The Revd Paul Bayes. National Mission & Evangelism Adviser, Archbishops' Council, Church of England You're an Angel will be an answer to prayer for any church looking for resources that will both encourage and equip members to share their faith in everyday situations. It is theologically well grounded and deeply rooted in the authors' own experience of God, and presents an honest picture of the challenges as well as the opportunities offered by a post-modern generation. John Drane, author of The McDonaldization of the Church and Do Christians know how to be Spiritual? The rise of New Spirituality & the Mission of the Church (both published by Darton Longman & Todd). As we struggle with the great commission in this Post Modern age, there will be a corporate sigh of relief from all who read this book. David and Peter, through their own rich and diverse experiences and naked honesty, have given us permission to express our own feelings of doubt and inadequacy as evangelists. The theme of God's love for us, and of His desire that we 'be ourselves' as we reach out, is reiterated throughout and this, alongside practical and applicable strategies for bringing our faith to the world outside our churches, should greatly encourage and equip us to 'be an angel' wherever God has placed us. Fiona Marks, Alpha Scotland Director. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Solid hardcover. ; "Zamba Zembola (born c. 1780) is the supposed author of an 1847 slave narrative, The Life and Adventures of Zamba, an African Negro King; and his Experience of Slavery in South Carolina, which describes his kidnapping and 40 years of labor as a slave on a plantation in the US state of South Carolina. The work was edited by Peter Neilson, a Scottish abolitionist. Some scholars believe the book is not a genuine slave narrative, but is fiction written by Neilson. Neilson refused to produce Zamba for inspection by anyone else." - Wikipedia. ; The Black Heritage Library Collection; Ex-Library; xx, 258 pages.
