The cross-sectional survey design was adopted for this study. A total of 998 pre-service teachers from ten (10) public colleges of education were sampled via multi-stage sampling technique. Structured questionnaire and unstructured observation schedule were used for the survey. This study concluded that, CoEs in Ghana admit pre-service teachers with average but weak grades in ELMK. Therefore, Ghanaian CoEs should structure and introduce PMCK alongside MCK for pre-service teachers. Mathematics tutors in CoEs should organize remedial lessons for pre-service teachers to scale-up their MCK and PMCK that adequately equip them with MKT. 52 pp. Englisch.

Ce livre explore les relations entre les notes obtenues par les enseignants en format…ion initiale dans les écoles normales au Ghana en matière de connaissances mathématiques de base (ELMK), de connaissances du contenu mathématique (MCK) et de connaissances du contenu pédagogique des mathématiques (MPCK). La conception de l'enquête transversale a été adoptée pour cette étude. Au total, 998 enseignants en formation initiale de dix (10) établissements d'enseignement publics ont été échantillonnés par une technique d'échantillonnage à plusieurs degrés. Un questionnaire structuré et un calendrier d'observation non structuré ont été utilisés pour l'enquête. Cette étude a conclu que les CdE du Ghana admettent des enseignants en formation initiale ayant des notes moyennes mais faibles en ELMK. Par conséquent, les CdE ghanéens devraient structurer et introduire le PMCK aux côtés du MCK pour les enseignants en formation initiale. Les professeurs de mathématiques dans les CdE devraient organiser des cours de rattrapage pour les enseignants en formation initiale afin de développer leur MCK et leur PMCK qui les équipent adéquatement en MKT.
