The title of this volume is explained in the front matter as follows: "The corresponding four-dimensional object, all of whose sides have length a, is called a 'Tesseract' and it has an interior capacity of a/4." James Monday was an architect who, among other projects, designed Alice Waters Residence, Berkeley. He was obviously a close friend of Alice Waters for he says of his two sons, " NiCO & OLiVER, my two fine sons, have grown up in the food and wine world of the SF Bay Area, partaking of the many pleasures of eating at the table of Alice Waters since they were infants. A simple twist of fate led me to Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley in 1971, the year it opened, where i met Alice and their mother, Sharon." [from his web site]. Larry Kunkel (illustrator).
