A lovely, miniature gift book for documenting birthdays throughout the year. Each date is accompanied by a short poetry extract from Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Hood, Tennyson, Moore, Burns, Cowper, Scott, Goldsmith, Hermans, Byron or Milton. This was certainly a treasured possession of the contemporary owner, who has filled in a number of entries with the names of their acquaintances. Finely bound in red morocco with the exception of the front board, which is solid silver. Contemporary gift inscription to the front free endpaper. Further contemporary penmanship throughout the work, consisting of the names of the owner's acquaintances. Externally, very smart with slight bumping and rubbing, leading to minor loss of leather to extremities and a few marks, the front board being a little tarnished.
