Very fine indeed in dark-blue morocco binding, gilt spine lettering and end-rules, all edges original dark-blue wash, matching silk marker ribbon, dark-blue matching endpapers and extremely clean pages and illustrations. Signed by Lowry on the limitation label on the front endpaper and again on the title page, where the editor, Mervyn Levy, has also signed. One of only 100 copies issued. In his Introduction, Levy explains that the black-and-white plates are arranged not in chronological order but 'rather by flavour', ie by type or style, but that the colour plates 'are left to speak as they wish irrespective of time, place or subject'. The main bulk of Lowry's famous industrial scenes are in one 'massive block as the central theme underlying and supporting the entirety of the artist's vision'. Levy's notes accompany the illustrations as appropriate. Beautifully presented and produced, uniquely signed thus, a superb, scarce book befitting one of England's most famous artists of the 20th century.…
