McLaurin served as professor of mathematical physics at Columbia University from 1907 to 1909 and was head of the Department of Physics in 1908 and 1909. He was president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1909 until his death in 1920. Scarce.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 6-3/4" x 10", 663pp. Sewn binding in black cloth-covered boards. Title stamped on red leather patch, which is affixed to spine. Light red edge tinting all around. Minor edge wear to binding, and the label bearing the title is frayed and worn, but still firmly affixed and legible. Binding is square and tight. A very small amount of underlining in text (a handful of phrases throughout), otherwise pages are age toned but clean and otherwise unmarked.
