Der klinische Assistent Ernst Mayerhofer berichtet aus der Universitäts-Kinderklinik in Wien (Vorstand: Prof. Cl. Freiherr v. Pirquet). Ernest Mayerhofer (1877-1957), in Möllersdorf bei Wien am 24. Oktober 1877 geboren, oblag seinen Studien in Wien, Innsbruck und Prag und wurde 1902 in Innsbruck Dr. med., 1908 in Prag Dr. phil. Er wandte sich der Kinderheilkunde zu und bildete sich an den Prager und Wiener Kinderkliniken bei Epstein, Ganghofer, Escherich, Moser und Pirquet aus. 1914 in Wien habilitiert, folgte er 1923 einem Ruf auf den Lehrstahl für Kinderheilkunde in Agram (Zagreb). Seine Arbeiten befreffen die Säuglingsernährung, das Permeabilitätsproblem der Säuglingsenteritis, die Mongolentheorie des sogen. Mongolenfleckes, das allergische Syndrom des Neugeborenen, den Ustilaginismus, die enteritische Eingangspforte der kindlichen Poliomyelitis, die Kegel der fraktionierten Absättigung und die 16 Rassentypen des Europäers. Er publizierte u. a.: (mit C. Pirquet) "Lehrbuch der Volksernährung nach dem Pirquetschen System", Wien und Berlin 1920, (mit dems.) "Lexikon der Ernährungskunde", ib. 1923-26, "Predavanja iz pedijatrije" (Vorlesungen aus Pädiatrie), ib. 1925, "Predavanja o cijepljenju protiv boginya'' (Vorlesungen über Blatternschutzimpfung), Zagreb 1931."
