Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. For the first time, Robbie opens up on his career, from the triumphs of his formative years where he was nearly lost to a first-class cricketing career, through Canterbury's glory days in the early 1980s and the experiences the shaped the man and the coach. With the same honesty that he brin…gs to his coaching, Robbie reveals the old-fashioned values that have underpinned the Crusaders dynasty. He offers an insight into his All Black association with Mitchell and the background, as he saw it, in his failure to land the top job himself. He also breaks silence on his removal from the Wallabies coaching job, examining in depth five turbulent years where the systemic and cultural challenges off the field were every bit as daunting and unrelenting as confronting the best team on the planet. Robbie opens up on his career, from the triumphs of his formative years, through Canterbury's glory days and the experiences that shaped the man and the coach. Soft cover. Condition: NF. No Jacket. 1st. Maori Rugby had a long history of uncompromising and tough forward with fast and tricky backs capable of turning on scintilating tries. The first Maori team to travel oversesa was selected in 1888 and it began the legends that surrounded the Maori game. The arrival of the professional e…ra for the formerly largely amateur game in the 1990s created difficulties for Maori rugby and even threatened its survival. Enter Matt Te Pou, Vietman vet and coach of the Maori team from 1995. In this book he studies the problems faced in restoring the team to star status over the decade from 1995 to 2005, during which the team was unbeaten over seven seasons, eventually winning 36 of the 40 games played in that time. His own insights into the game. on and off the field, are supported and enhanced by players he coached, many of them who were also All Blacks. There is much that is new about rugby in this book. 244 pages including match statistics at back. 71 photos, the majority in colour. Pictorial card covers NF, likewise the text block no inscriptions.
