In een aantal inleidende artikelen wordt hierop ingegaan. Ook wordt er aandacht besteed aan de invloed van de schilders op elkaar en op de wisselwerking met de literatuur. In het catalogusgedeelte zijn alle werken paginagroot afgebeeld, in kleur en van een beschrijving en commentaar voorzien. De uitleg van de achtergronden maakt de afbeeldingen extra interessant. Het boek is mooi uitgevoerd en voorzien van noten en een bibliografie.
