Condition: new. ALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (New, Hardcover, 2015). 2015 1st edition. Small 8vo (152 x 217mm). Pp172. Colour photographs. Foreword by Rob Maylin. Green boards, spine titled in gilt. Fine new copy in dust-wrapper. Book IV in the Big Carp Hunters series. "Big Carp Hunters is a new series dedicated to a very special group of anglers: anglers who over the years have quietly gone about their angling with relentless dedication, not seeking fame or fortune, rarely publicising their catches, targeting the biggest and hardest carp in the country to catch solely for their own satisfaction. Often these campaigns require huge amounts of effort, both physically and mentally. This sort of fishing is not for everyone, certainly not for the fainthearted. The demands on normal life are incredible, and very often there are consequences." Craig Lyons is a carp angler of wide experience, although still relatively young. His experience encompasses waters such as Sutton and Sutton-at-Hone, waters in Kent, and expeditions after big known fish in many of the London reservoirs and the Colne Valley. His first book, Carp Addiction, was published as a limited edition in 2013 and sold out very quickly. "Craig is without doubt a big carp hunter; he's been there, done it and worn out the t-shirt, and I feel very privileged to have him as part of this series. However, whether he should have been in the Legends series [instead] is up to you, the reader, to decide." Chapters include: Where it all started; Sutton - the history maker; Sutton at Hone - carp fishing Mecca; Walthamstowe Reservoirs - oasis within a s**t hole; Birch Grove - a holiday venue; Tolpits - circuit water success; Walthamstowe revisited - and a Redmire week; Carp angler of the year - Sutton and The Manor; Further afield - Canada and France; Korda - the essence of carp angling. English text; Hardcover (with dust jacket); 30.5 x 22.5 cm; 1.564 Kg; 256 pages with 300 illustrations, 150 in colour.; Used with signs of wear on the dust jacket and on the interior, namely on the bottom of some pages which seem to have been glued to each other in the past. The dust jacket is now protected with a clearcover.; From its first use over 1,000 years ago lacquer has had a fascination for artists, craftsmen and collectors all over the world. With over 300 illustrations, 150 in colour, LACQUER covers the entire history of the subject - ranging from the dramatic red, black, and gold of Imperial China and Japan, via the richly worked lac of India and Persia, European chinoiserie and American japanning, to the bold brilliance of contemporary designs. There are country by country sections on China, Japan, the Ryukyu Islands and Korea, South East Asia, the Near and Middle East, India, England, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Scandinavia, Russia and America - including a unique survey of Islamic lacquer, about which very little has been published. Among the items illustrated, many of which have never before appeared in a book, are gold-and silver-splashed inro, carved wine bowls, gilded shrines, and saddles inlaid with mother-of-pearl, calligraphic book-covers and painted pen-cases, sedan chairs and rococo commodes, Art Deco tables and chairs, dolls' furniture and screens fourteen feet long. Complete with an illustrated glossary, sections on techniques and restoration, information on collections, workshops and suppliers, and a bibliography of English, European and oriental books, LACQUER is both a feast for the eye and an invaluable guide for collectors, art historians, craftsmen, dealers, and for everyone who appreciates this supremely beautiful and elegant art.

It sold out quickly after publication. "Carp Addiction is a book about a man who has been obsessed with carp fishing since his boyhood, where fortunately he was mentored by a couple of experts at the lakes he fished, with whom he still remains friends today. It was not long before he was catching a few larger fish and moving on to better waters. Since those early years on Horton Kirby he has gone on to fish such places as: Walthamstow, Redmire, Sutton, The Manor, Korda, Birch Grove, amongst others, and has fished several places in France. He has also fished in Canada. His statistics speak volumes - eleven UK forties including a personal best mirror at over 47lb and two different commons over 40lbs. His French personal bests are a common of over 72lb and a mirror of over 60lb. He was voted 'Carp Angler of the Year' in 2006 and is proud to be a member of the British Carp Study Group, in which he was enrolled some twelve years ago. Unlike many successful carp anglers of today, he works full time and has only ever been able to fish weekends, evenings and holidays but his 'addiction' to catching carp has never diminished in the thirty or so years he has followed his passion." .
