First Edition Signed
Hardcover. First Edition, First Printing. 7 x 10in. x. 643pp. Profusely illustrated. Publisher's full leather binding with gilt titling. Typically found in full cloth, presumably this binding was made specially for illustrious affiliates of the New York Public Library; this being the former copy of John D. Rockefeller, Jr. with his bookplate at the paste-down. Signed and inscribed by the author, the lauded librarian, book conservationist, and director of the NYPL, to John D. Rockefeller on the first blank endpaper: "For Mr. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. with the compliments of H.M. Lydenberg." VERY GOOD. Shows the extremities somewhat shelf rubbed, front hinge with slight surface loss, from opening, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and exceptionally unmarked, and the boards remain distinct. As pictured.
