Dattenried (i.e. Delle, France), August 3, 1627. [102] pp. Folio (13" x 10"). Contemporary vellum, blind rules and hand-lettered title to boards, braided cord with tassel along spine, remnants of thong ties to fore-edges. Light soiling to exterior, boards slightly bowed, ink annotations to front board. Manuscript text of statutes in neat scribal hand to first 99 pp. with autograph signature of Leopold V and countersignatures of Joannes Lintner and Joannes Haselwanther appended, followed by 2 pp. of notes on the publication of the statutes in a different hand. Light toning to interior, a few cracks to text block, all leaves secure, negligible light foxing and soiling to a few leaves. $1,850. * Signed by Archduke Leopold V, this set of statutes regulates the Italian municipality of Nago-Torbole. The 116 sections deal with both civil and criminal law, as well as the form of government for the region. The first printed edition was published in Verona in 1628, as the notes in this copy indicate. The statutes were subsequently upheld by Archduke Ferdinand Karl in 1647 and Emperor Leopold I in 1670.
