Ink name and address on front free endpaper; same name in ink at the upper corner of the dust jacket. Slight wear to the cloth; tight and sound in a jacket with chipping to the spine and rubbing at folds.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. 2nd Edition. Cream colored cloth covers with very nice multi-colored stamped design on front cover. Covers exhibit light wear and bumping on corners and spine ends. Light shelf wear and soiling to covers. Gift inscription to previous owner on ffep. Previous owners name on top edge of ffep. Light yellowing and foxing to inside front and back covers, ffep's and bfep's. Text and illustrations are clean and unmarked. Hinges are tight. The illustrations are beautiful. "Twenty-six color plates and other illustrations; twenty-one of them, by the new process of color photography, first photographed on glass direct from nature, and afterward reproduced by the four color process." All illustrations are present and in fine condition. Includes a fold out full color panoramic map reproduced from a famous painting in the back of the book. The map is in fine condition. All of our books are individually inspected and described. Never ex-lib unless explicitly described as such.

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good+. Staple bound book with golden ocher dust jacket over wraps has light wear to the edges. Pages are clean and binding is tight. Dust jacket has wear to the edges with a couple small closed tears. A little light general surface soiling. Book has been placed in a protective bag with acid-free board backer. Name stamps from the late Oregon House Representative Richard L. Neuberger on inside of front cover. 7 x 10.25 inches. 32 Pages. Samuel Christopher Lancaster was an engineer and landscape architect, most famous for his work on the Columbia River Highway. He was born in 1864 in Magnolia, Mississippi and died from leukemia in 1941. He came to Oregon in 1908 and was hired by Sam Hill to design his experimental roads at Maryhill in 1909. He did a plan for the campus of Linfield College before beginning supervision of the Columbia River Highway in 1913. He also promoted Crown Point as the site of an observatory.
