Once they stopped being used everyday, the decorative and functional aspects of canes meant that they could develop a second life thanks to the interest of both collectors and historians. We have organized this book not so much chronologically, but rather according to their individual shapes and finishes, and the various materials used in their manufacture: from wood to ivory, to precious metals, amber, crystal, and porcelain. We have also dedicated a chapter to gadget sticks of all types: an amazing repertoire of original, as well useful inventions. - - - Oggetti funzionali e decorativi, i bastoni da passeggio hanno accompagnato della societá e dei costumi dal 1700 fino alla metà del nostro secolo e sono caratterizzati da uno specifico valore d'uso e da una particolare espressivita artistica.
