Today they amount for about 15% of the total primary energydemand, with biomass and hydro-power having with 10% and 5% the biggest shares. All theother renewable energy sources, as wind power, solar heat and photovoltaic, play a minor rolesince they don t even cover 1% of the primary energy demand. Renewable energy sourcescould solve both major problems of the energy sector, since they are carbon neutral and bydefinition renewable. The drawbacks are that at the moment most renewable sources are notcompetitive and need to be subsidized by governments and the technical challenge of storingthe produced energy.It is easy to understand that the future of the energy sector is highly uncertain and that toolsthat are extrapolating past trends are of no use under these circumstances. In the last yearsseveral energy scenarios have been conducted, trying to display the major uncertainties. Notsurprisingly the results are strongly varying, leading to question of the characteristics and thequality of scenarios. However there has been no analysis of the characteristics and quality ofenergy scenarios, which is being done in this bachelor thesis.After a short introduction of the history of scenarios in chapter 2.1, a general framework ofthe scenario development process is developed in chapter 2.2 and its possible variations arelisted in chapter 2.3. The result is a scenario typology consisting of 15 variables that can beused to examine the characteristics and the quality of scenarios. The scenario typology is thenapplied at a total of 5 scenarios at chapter 2.4. The sample of scenarios was chosen to displaythe broad range of different scenario developers. It consists of the DESERTEC scenario of acharitable trust, the EU-Roadmap 2050 of a political institution, the Greenpeace [R]evolutionof an NGO, the World Energy Outlook of an intergovernmental institution and the ShellEnergy scenarios of a company dealing in the energy sector.

Ausgehend von dramentheoretischen und theatersemiotischen Prozessen werden der Begriff des Schweigens und seine Rolle in der Literaturwissenschaft diskutiert. Das Schweigen wird dabei auf den drei semiotischen Ebenen von System, Norm und Rede… untersucht. Auf der Ebene des Systems kommt es zunächst zu einer theoretischen Annäherung an das Schweigen, das als "doppelter Nullpunkt der Sprache" verstanden wird: es unterbricht die Rede und verweist auf ihre Schranken. Diese Gratwanderung zwischen Unterbrechung und Grenze wird weiters auf der Ebene der Norm unternommen, um anhand von verschiedensten Beispielen aus der Literatur historische Prozesse in bezug auf das Schweigen zu rekonstruieren. Als Beispiel für eine Dramatik, in der das Schweigen ein formbestimmendes Element ist, wird schließlich Thomas Bernhards dramatisches Werk auf der Ebene der Rede untersucht. Das Schweigen unterstreicht in Bernhards Dramen neben seiner syntaktischen Dimension als Kompositionselement, das Bernhards Sprachrhythmus und die Inszenierung seiner Pausen beschreibt, vor allem pragmatische Aspekte, indem es Machtstrukturen innerhalb der Figurenkonstellation aufzeigt und diese gleichzeitig aufbricht. Wenn das Schweigen durch seinen referentiellen Bezug verschwiegene Themen zur Sprache bringt, kommt die semantische Dimension in Bernhards Dramen zum Tragen. This dependency causes two major problems:First, it causes the scarcity of these non-renewable energy sources, and climate change. There are two alternatives to fos…sil energy sources that are on the one hand, nuclear energy, and on the other hand, renewable energy sources. The process of nuclear energy is fascinating for the energy outcome of one kilogram of uranium equals the stored energy of about 3.000 tons of coal. Nuclear energy can reduce the problems that cause climate change for, the process is carbon neutral but, it leads to several other problems as nuclear proliferation, incidents, and the unsolved problem of waste disposal. Renewable energy sources are carbon neutral, and by definition renewable, and therefore, they could solve both major problems of the energy sector. Right now, the drawbacks are at first that most of them are not competitive, and need to be subsidized by governments, and second, the technical challenge to store the produced energy. It is easy to understand that the future of the energy sector is highly uncertain, and that under these circumstances, tools are of no use as far as they are extrapolating past trends. In the last years, several energy scenarios have been conducted in order to display the major uncertainties. It is not surprising that the results are strongly varying, and therefore, the results lead to the question of the characteristics and the quality of the scenarios. But, there has been no analysis of the characteristics and the quality of energy scenarios so far.However, the author analyzes these in this study. The author begins with a short introduction about the history of scenarios, and continues with the development of a general framework of the scenario development process. Further, he lists its possible variations.
