Folded horizontally in half contributing to strong crease and short tears along fold-line; soiled covers' spine paper worn with tears and slender chipping; old ink signature at top of front cover; patches of surface peeling to rear cover. Staples rusted but binding still holding although careless handling would certainly be detrimental. Light toning and mostly minor edge-wear to interior leaves which, overall, remain clean. Only a good copy at best but an uncommon New York City publication.

A trifle soiling to front cover; light wear to extremities of cloth. The writing pen featured in the final photo was added to provide scale. "The Greatest of the Five Boroughs of Greater New York," as Chadwick's history is titled. Some-300 of the photographs are by George P. Hall and Son, documenting commercial buildings, cemeteries, bridges, banks, public works, houses and apartment houses, schools, hotels, street and waterfront scenes, churches, etc. Printed by the Plimpton Press.
