First edition in book form, first printing. Publisher's original red cloth, with light blue titles to the upper board and spine, lacking the scarce dustwrapper. A good or slightly better copy, the binding firm with some bumping and a little fraying to the tips of the slightly faded spine. The contents, with the name of ['Obelist…s' crime writer] C. Daly King in blue ink on the front endpaper (in capitals rather than his signature so difficult to say in whose hand the name is written), a light water stain to the lower corner of approximately 100 pages towards the rear and the occasional mark to a couple of page margins, are otherwise clean and without loss or tears. First published in six monthly parts between September 1932 and February 1933 in 'Blue Book' magazine. A novel of world destruction by an invading planet and the flight of a few survivors to a new world. The basis for the 1951 Academy Award winning film of the same name directed by Rudolph Maté. (Bleiler; Locke: A Spectrum of Fantasy). Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Lucius Books welcomes direct contact with our customers.

Contact seller5-star sellerCondition: Good. First Edition. [Chicago, IL]: [Rally Program Committee], 1964. First Edition. Octavo six-paneled brochure (21cm); halftone portrait of Martin Luther King, Jr. to upper panel. Previous folds; fortunately for the cause, though unfortunately for this example, the top half of the rear panel, which featured an order…blank to "Pledge to Work for Civil Rights and Human Dignity for All Americans" was removed and hopefully filled out by the original owner. Still, Good and sound overall, despite this rather substantial loss. Exceptionally scarce promotional brochure to what would be one of the largest civil rights rallies, second only to the 1963 March on Washington. The rally opened with two hours of jazz and gospel music, as well as a 5000-voice choir conducted by Mahalia Jackson. Speakers included MLK, whose portrait adorns the upper panel, James Farmer, James Foreman, and Roy Wilkins, among many others. About ten days later, on July 2nd, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1964. OCLC locates just one example as of April, 2026, at Notre Dame. Additional information provided by the University of Notre Dame Archives article "Illinois Rally for Civil Rights 1964," retrieved online.
