Seller: Ground Zero Books, Ltd., Silver Spring, MD, U.S.A.
Wraps. Condition: Good. Ruth Kellogg (illustrator). Fifth printing [stated]. 64 pages. Illustrated. Cover has some wear and soiling. Name of prevous owner inside the front cover. This is one of the Follett Picture-Stories of Many Lands. contents include: Babies in Cathay, Dragons Everywhere, Bird Nest Soup and Sharks' Fins, Farms Under Water, Beds Made of Bricks, Little Puppy Goes to School, The Feast of Lanterns, and The Red Bridal chair. The author is believed to be Grace Cathleen Kiner (1894-1968). This gives insights into how 'The Orient', and China in particular was presented in words and pictures to American children during the Inter-war period. Grace Kiner was a noted author of several works, but little can be found on line about her today. This is also true about the illustrator Ruth Kellogg who apparently was involved in the illustrations of a number of publications during this period.
