"[.] Les dispositions proposées par la Cie [Séguin]… comportent l'employ de haubans pour l'invention desquels MM. Séguin frères ont obtenu un brevet, si vous approuvez la contrefaçon à laquelle la Cie a recours, vous violerez, ce me semble, les lois de l'équité, de la justice, vous exposerez la ville de Lyon à voir détruire judiciairement ce nouvel ouvrage et à la privation de cette voye importante de communication pendant le temps nécessaire pour la reconstruire une troisième fois [.]". Il évoque encore le droit de péage et l'adjudication du pont, détaille les dépenses importantes engagées par la Compagnie Séguin pour l'entretien du pont, ainsi que le taux des actions. "J'offre donc d'exécuter mon plan pour la somme de 120,000 f. une indemnité de 30,000 f. serait donc suffisante pour son exécution [.]".
