Vetsina lidi toto usporadani prijima trpne; Eriku Vilksovi, hlavnimu hrdinovi knihy, se vsak pomalu zacina zajidat. Jeho nespokojenost prizivuji matne zablesky vzpominek na "svet predtim", na realitu vne Mesta i vne Dormy; presto, ze Erik patri k privilegovane kaste clenu "Ustredi" a klast si podobne otazky je proti jeho prisaze, rozhodne se prijit na to, kdo vlastne je a zda je dany stav skutecne tak nevyhnutelny, jak tvrdi establishment Mesta. Stindlova dystopie v mnohem odkazuje na zahranicni klasiky (Huxley, Orwell, Dick), v mnohem je zavazana domaci literarni tradici (Egon Bondy); pritom ovsem nabizi svebytny, puvodni a napinave vystaveny pribeh o hledani lidske identity a fungovani lidske spolecnosti. Svebytnou, paralelni rovinu pribehu vytvareji ilustrace Josefa Bolfa, jenz je zaroven spoluautorem nametu knihy. Josef Bolf (illustrator).

Né en 1971 à Prague, Josef Bolf est l'un des artistes tchèques les plus importants de sa génération avec d'autres artistes tels Jan…erých, Ján Mančuka et Tomá Vanek avec lesquels il forma le collectif BJ (Bezhlavý Jezdec/Le Chevalier sans tête) de 1998 à 2002. Il fut élu meilleur artiste tchèque de l'année en 2010. Sa génération, qui émergea au début des années 2000, fut aussi la première à ne pas être soumise à la censure du régime communiste et à se lier aux autres scènes artistiques étrangères et en particulier occidentales. Sa peinture traite de son enfance, du souvenir de celle-ci dans la morosité de la période de la "Normalisation" (1968-1989) caractérisée par le retour à la "norme communiste" entre le Printemps de Prague et la Révolution de velours.
