Desde su primer libro, Para ángeles y gorriones (1956), hasta sus últimos poemas, incluidos En el mudo corazón del bosque (1997), fue dueño de un tono único y de una cosmovisión muy singular. La poética de Teillier postula un tiempo de arraigo en lo autóctono y en lo ancestral como una forma de resistencia frente a la voracidad de la metrópolis moderna. Por otra parte, como líder de la tendencia chilena llamada ?poesía lárica? o de los lares, y siguiendo a Rilke, propicia la valoración de las cosas simples del hogar, ya que, según sostiene, preservan lo humano y no están contaminadas por las tecnologías.
