Im Anschluss daran folgt ein Überblick über die Ergebnisse vorab durchgeführter Studien nach Umsetzung des DRS 20. Im Hauptteil der Arbeit wird auf Basis des gesetzlichen Rahmens ein Anforderungsprofil abgeleitet.Dieses bildet die Grundlage für die empirische Inhaltsanalyse, welche die Prognosequalität der Unternehmen untersucht, die zum 31.12.2018 in den größten deutschen Aktienindizes (DAX 30, MDAX und SDAX) gelistet sind. Dabei liegt der Fokus auf dem Erfüllungsgrad der Anforderungen an Prognosegegenstand, Prognosegenauigkeit sowie Prognosehorizont. Die Ergebnisse werden nachfolgend interpretiert. Im letzten Teil wird die Arbeit mit einer kritischen Würdigung des gesetzlichen Standards und einer Zusammenfassung vervollständigt.Bereits 2011 hat Ulrich Hocker, Hauptgeschäftsführer der Deutschen Schutzvereinigung für Wertpapierbesitz e.V. (DSW), nicht nur die hohe Relevanz der Prognoseberichterstattung im Lagebericht, sondern auch die Unterschiede in der Qualität der veröffentlichten Prognosen festgestellt. Ein ähnliches Bild zeigen verschiedene Studien, welche die Prognoseberichterstattung im Lagebericht deutlich kritisieren. Durch Einführung des Deutschen Rechnungslegungs Standard 20 'Konzernlagebericht' (DRS 20) wurden die Anforderungen an den Prognosebericht durch das Deutsche Rechnungslegungs Standard Committee (DRSC) 2012 daher grundlegend erneuert und präzisiert.Im Jahr nach der Umstellung untersuchen zahlreiche Studien die Qualität der Prognoseberichterstattung vor dem Hintergrund des neuen Standards. Sowohl publizierende Unternehmen, als auch Verfasser einschlägiger Studien konzentrieren sich dabei vorwiegend auf finanzielle Kennzahlen. Dahingegen ist die Berichterstattungspraxis zu nichtfinanziellen Leistungsindikatoren im Prognosebericht bislang kaum untersucht.
