John W Diggle, Bishop of Mossley Hill, Liverpool, Hon Canon of Liverpool, Rural Dean of Childwall. xi, 565pp, 1p works by the same author, illustrated with 2 plates with tissues, paper of plates slightly crinkled, ink gift inscription… to top of title page, which is uncut, some foxing to the edges, pages are free from foxing but there are occasional pencil marks in the margins, dark green endpapers, textured blue cloth with blind-stamped border to top and bottom, gilt lettering to spine and upper board, corners and spine edges a little bumped and rubbed. James Fraser (18 August 1818 - 22 October 1885) was a reforming Anglican bishop of Manchester, England. An able Church administrator and policy leader, he was active in developing the Church's approach to education and in practical politics and industrial relations. Though his views were ecumenical and he was respected within a wide variety of religions, against his own instincts he allowed himself to become involved in some unpleasant litigation under the Public Worship Regulation Act 1874. Size: 8vo. Biographical.
