El trabajaba en una escuela intermedia como maestro de ciencias terrestres y del espacio. Era un hombre muy inteligente, respetado por la facultad escolar, los estudiantes y toda la sociedad. Un dia lo invitaron a o…frecer un taller sobre meteorologia debido a que en el condado donde vivia estaban ocurriendo diversos fenomenos naturales tales como: granizadas y tornados. En el taller un estudiante le pregunto si la tierra era plana y el contesto que no porque la tierra era como una esfera. La esposa del profesor se quedo muy pensativa con la pregunta de aquel nino. Mas adelante, en un dialogo que tuvo con su esposo, ella le pregunto si de verdad la tierra era plana. El contesto que no con datos cientificos, pero como ella no quedo convencida decidio llevarla junto con sus hijos al centro espacial de Houston donde conocerian a grandes cientificos que desmentirian ese pensamiento erroneo. Luego de visitar el centro espacial y haber dialogado con los cientificos ella quedo con mas dudas que respuestas. Desde aquella vez siempre buscaba el momento oportuno para cuestionarle a su esposo la esfericidad de la tierra. Cuando llego el verano, el profesor emprendio un viaje hacia la Antartida con su familia. Llegando a ese lugar ocurrio una tragedia dejando al profesor Mckinney marcado emocionalmente; desesperado por encontrar una explicacion a lo ocurrido decidio investigar por si mismo, pasando por muchos tropiezos, tormentos y agonias. Lo que descubrio cambio radicalmente todas sus ideas cientificas, incluso cambio el pensamiento de la gente del mundo entero. Esta es su historia.
