The book was a Norris Nebraska school library book and has a c…lear mylar dustjacket cover and several stamps. The mylar and dustjacket have very little wear and look great. The dark brown cloth hardcovers have been well protected with only very minor edgewear. The spine is tight. The pages are white with little wear and no marks besides the library stuff. 10 chapters are offered in two sections: What It Is and How It Works; and Story of a Wonder Drug. The book offers fotenotes, a bibliography, a list of interferon treatment programs, a glossary and an index in the back. 211 pages. CHEAP SHIPPING MEDIA MAIL.

Reports of interference among other viruses appeared, and in 1943 Werner and Gertrude Henle discovered that ultraviolet- or heat-killed viruses are still able to interfere with secondary inoculations of live viruses. The scientific literature was soon filled with speculations on mechanisms for this transient form of viral immunity that apparently involved neither antibody not phagocyte. The growth of the virus in the tumor cells was studied with the electron microscope, in the hope that this might shed some light on the manner in which viral infection transforms a poorly immunogenic tumor into a highly immunogenic one. We consider none of the questions which our work has raised as definitely solved. In fact, we are still working on many of the aspects alluded to above. When we embarked on a study of postoncolytic immunity, we were supported in this endeavor by our lack of experience in the fields of transplantation and tumor immunology. 96 pp. Englisch.
