Charles Joseph Kickham (1828-1882), although disabled in both hearing and sight, became a prominent Irish poet, newspaperman, and revolutionary. He was present at the founding of the Irish Republican Brotherhood; later he served four years penal servitude (of a fourteen-year sentence) for his political activities. Reportedly, some 10,000 mourners attended his funeral in Dublin. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition of a biography issued just one year prior to the Easter Uprising. Uncommon to scarce. Green cloth binding with blindstamping; lettered in white on front cover. The spine has aged to brown, but the gilt lettering is still bright. Clean text; 146 pages; illustrated with photographs. The corners are bumped and the endpapers are tanning; there is a faint stamp on the FFEP and a small sicker on the front cover. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. First Edition. Hard Cover.
