Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. A near Fine unmarked copy free from ownership inscription Two very minor small marks to fore and top edge. Dustjacket is also near Fine and is not price clipped. First edition, second impression. 20 illustrations. The story of an extraordinary fri…endship for over 20 years - from Robben Island, to Victor Verster jail - James Gregory was Nelson Mandela's jailer. Yet, when the time came at last for Mandela's release they embraced as close friends, and Gregory was a personal guest at Mandela's inauguration ceremony. As Mandela and Gregory's friendship grew over the years, they became each other's confidant and source of comfort. Gregory acted as go-between for Mandela's wife Winnie and their children, and Mandela became a godfather to Gregory's daughter. On several occasions, Gregory even smuggled Mandela out of the prison compound in the boot of his car. Party to Mandela's thoughts, fears and desires for over 20 years, no one knows Mandela quite like Gregory - revealing the foe who became a friend, the prisoner who became the President. The book was made into a film 'The color of Freedom'. **** NOT EX LIB **** A1B Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. Landmark document by the Art Workers Coalition which compiled documents and correspondence aggregated to push for better situations for artists. 121 pages in stiff stapled wraps, this original is quite scarce in any condition, this copy being quite decent with one or two notes, most significant…of which is a large stain to front cover, alongside some similar but significantly smaller and more faint iterations on front and back panel. Couple of teeny tiny dot stains to front and rear free endpages but hardly so and no other stains besides. Offset toning to full vertical length of front panel, also a bit around the very edges of the margins of the covers and to a lesser extent the interior pages. Staples rusted but still seem quite sturdy, and seems binding should hold well. Interior is clean and free of marks. Covers now in mylar.
