The author attempts to find some solid ground in minefield of questionable sources, concluding Custer did ride up Weir Point and observe Reno's battalion; that Custer's comman did not descend into Medicine Tail Coulee by Cedar Coulee, but by Middle and West Coulee; that Curley did not enter the first stage of the Custer battle with the troops; and that there was a conspiracy by the army at the Reno Court of Inquiry to lessen any further embarassment to the U.S. military over the disaster at the Little Big Horn.
