Die klinischen Themen sind nach den Krankheitsbildern (Abhängigkeit von Alkohol, Drogen, Medikamenten und Nikotin) und ihrer Therapie gegliedert. Neu ist die Erörterung der Schnüffelsucht, der Drogenpsychosen und vor allem der Nikotinabhängigkeit, ferner beim Alkoholismus der Genetik und Biochemie sowie die Darstellung der internistischen Folgeerkrankungen und der teratogenen Schäden. Der Unterschied zwischen diesem Band und den Suchtkapiteln in der 1. und 2.
