The difference between the right word and the almost right word is really a large matter--it is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug. --Mark Twain Words matter more than ever these days, whether published in books, newspapers or magazines, or even within X's 280-character limit. They m…atter in hasty texts and hurried goodbyes, as much as in meaningful conversations over cups of coffee. Words are powerful. When used accurately and organized efficiently, using proper grammatical structures, they create meaning. Words impart knowledge. Words then inspire. Part poetry, part prose, part vocabulary list, part literary text and part activity guide, this book is a fun way to learn how to use words effectively and correctly. Let's learn to read, write, speak and tell stories. Let's use our words.

Soft cover. Condition: New. Wonder Tales for a Warming Planet is a collection of short stories about ordinary young children trying to make sense of a planet under extraordinary threat. Chaudhuri's playful world-building holds subtle allegories about the perils of climate change that will encourage budding readers to think about… their contribution to the environment and the power of collective action. Grappling with concepts ranging from renewable energy sources and growing urbanisation, to sustainable ways of coexisting with nature, this book offers three striking tales of climate fiction that will make you pause, wonder, and reimagine the world you live in. About the Author: RAJAT CHAUDHURI's works include novels, story collections, edited anthologies, and translations. He curated The Best Asian Speculative Fiction and co-edited the Multispecies Cities: Solarpunk Urban Futures (Asia-Pacific) anthology. Chaudhuri's novel, The Butterfly Effect was twice listed by Book Riot (US) as a 'Fifty must-read eco-disasters in fiction' and among 'Ten works of environmental literature from around the world'. Acclaimed for its exploration of a 'Ballardian near-future', this novel is in the syllabus of one Indian and an American university. The 'visceral urbanism' of his book Hotel Calcutta is the subject of an essay in Routledge's The City Speaks collection. His fiction also appeared in the internationally acclaimed climate fiction video game 'Survive the Century'. Chaudhuri received writing fellowships from Charles Wallace (UK), Hawthornden Castle (Scotland), and Livonics (India), and residency awards from Arts Council Korea-InKo (South Korea) and Sangam House (India). He lives and writes in Calcutta.
