Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book provides a detailed account of the Gothic Wars that occurred during the reign of Roman Emperor Theodosius the Great. It begins by highlighting the Roman Empire's vulnerability to attacks from various groups, including the Goths, who had crossed the Danube River and settled within Roman territory. Amidst these troubling times, Theodosius emerged as the emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire and faced the challenge of restoring stability and defending the empire's borders. The author follows Theodosius's strategic military maneuvers, astute diplomacy, and interactions with Gothic leaders like Fritigern and Athanaric. The author also explores the broader historical context of the Gothic Wars, examining the political dynamics, religious tensions, and societal transformations that influenced the conflict. Overall, this book offers valuable insights into the complexities of the Gothic Wars, shedding light on the challenges faced by the Roman Empire and the strategies employed by Theodosius to maintain its integrity. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Originalleinen. Condition: Wie neu. Reprint der Ausg. Halle, Niemeyer, 1878. VIII, 240 S. Neuwertiges, sehr sauberes Exemplar.
